Isinglass models was established by John Edgson with the aim of producing highly detailed line drawings of as many locomotives and carriages as possible of the LNER and constituent companies. In a period spanning 5 decades, John produced over 550 drawings which are catalogued in these pages and available to order.

These include engines pregrouping classes from GCR, GER, GNR, NBR, NER and Met Rly; and carriages from ECJS, GN & GE Jt, GNR and NER .

John was aware of the magnitude of this task knowing that it would take more decades than he had to complete it. Please also view the “Other Drawings” page. This contains drawings made by John that he did not include in his catalogue.

In December 2007, John was working on drawing 668, North Eastern Railway 53’ 6” Open First Class Dining Car. I believe that this drawing is substantially complete, although it only has a short paragraph of text describing the history and use of these coaches. It is offered for sale, in the condition completed by John, in both 4mm & 7mm scales
